In case you missed the news, we've tapped actress and singer Mandy Moore to be our newest editor! A beauty junkie after our own heart, Moore is testing dozens of new makeup products every month and sharing the ones that get her stamp of approval.

Keeping it simple seems to be the beauty mantra this month as the heat index rises, and that wasn't lost on me as I rifled through this month's goodie basket. With summer on the brain, it seems like the perfect time to be armed with an arsenal of products to keep you glowing, moisturized and fresh-faced. Enjoy!

L'orГ©alВ Colour Riche Extraordinaire Lip Color ($10)

My most visceral memories of lip gloss always seemed to include my hair getting stuck to my mouth and then dragging sticky color across my face. Suffice to say, after gravitating towards a matte lip for a while now, I was surprised to hear that lip gloss is in fact back in a big way. Thanks to L'oreal's new Colour Riche Extradinoire Lip Color ($10), it feels like an easy transition and a safe way to dip your toe back into that pond. The smooth, moisturizing formula, coupled with the rich, vivid pigments, remind me other “fancier brand" products I've tried and liked less. I really loved Coral Encore and Pink Tremolo for a pop of color.В

Jergens Body BB Cream ($13)

Designed to enhance, hydrate, brighten and firm your epidermis in the same way that our beloved BB does for the face, Jergens BB Body Cream ($13) wasn't a tough sell in my book. It promises to even out your skin's tone in five days but I mean, let's be real, it's not body makeup.В The cream was rich enough to hydrate my chronically dry skin, with a faint but pleasant scent. Maybe it's just my imagination, but I will say that I've noticed a bit of a difference in the look and feel of my skin over the past few weeks.

Suave Professional Gradual Self-Tanner ($8)

Even though I grew up basking in the glow of the sun, as a quintessential Florida beach baby, I've found myself embracing the paler side of life over the past few years. The concept of self-tanner has always frightened me. I don't trust myself to apply it correctly, and I fully expect it to turn me into an Oompa Loompa. Enter Suave's Professional Gradual Self-Tanner ($8), which wasdeveloped to build an impressively natural looking tan over time. So far, I've found it to be fairly foolproof, and when combined with the Jergens BB Body cream, it packs a pretty potent one-two punch.

Sephora Instant Nail and Cuticle Care ($10)

Sephora's Instant Nail and Cuticle Care ($10) seemed like the logical step to aid my post-gel, weak, peeling nails. The secret ingredient is the ultra-hydrating camellia oil and fused with the delivery system (a simple foam-lined jar) makes it a perfect combo.

Redken Pillow Proof Blow Dry Primer ($22)

I am NOT adept at doing my hair whatsoever. Most days, it's all about dry shampoo and if I'm feel really crazy, I'll try adding a bit of bend with a curling iron. That said, the step I'm usually missing involves some sort of heat protectant, so I was curious to try Redken's Pillow Proof Blow Dry Primer ($22). I'm NO expert but it (luckily) didn't add any weight to my fine strands, and seemed to aid in locking in shine. I'll definitely be adding this to my routine.

Marc Jacobs Shameless Bold Blush ($30)

Although I'm not partial to shimmer, it's difficult not to be swayed by a little shine and sparkle during the summer months. Once I tabled my hesitation, I ended up loving Marc Jacobs' Shameless Bold Blush ($30). (Being a total sucker for packaging didn't hurt either). It felt like a slightly less flashy version of Nars' famed Orgasm blush. A little goes a long way, and that's just fine in my book.
