This Clear Self-Tanner Is Literally Solving All My Summer Beauty Problems

NovemberВ is such a promising month. The days get longer, the supermarket gets a steady (albeit expensive) stream of stone fruit, and Christmas vacation is only a few short, sweet weeks away. I've always been a summer baby, meaning that I take great pleasure when it comes to reorganising my beauty cabinet for the warmer days ahead. This year, the vibe is all about light, airy hair, clear skin, a subtle tan, curly lashes, and punchy brights on my lips and eyes. Sun protection is-as always-a must, along with lightweight moisturisers, no-fuss tanners, and popsicle-inspired lips tints.В

Want in on a beauty editor's summer recommendations? You've come to the right place. Below, find the 18 products that are making up my spring/summer 18 kit. You're welcome, and happy shopping.В

Hair By Sam McKnight Cool Girl Barely There Texture Mist $49Shop

One of the reasons I love Mecca is the stores ability to curate the best in international beauty brands. Case in point: Hair By Sam McKnight. This texturising mist is light, airy, and delivers just enough grip for salty movement. This, my friends, is what summer hair dreams are made of.В

Bioderma Bioderma Hydrabio Gel Cream $43Shop

As the weather warms, move emollient balms, creams, and souped-up oils to the back of the cupboard in favour of lighter lotions. Not only will you feel less greasy, but you'll lessen your chance of sweat-induced breakouts. This new pick from French favourite Bioderma couldn't be more perfect. It's light as air, cooling, and contains a small amount of salicyclic acid for smooth, even texture. At the same time, it's still hydrating and won't leave you feeling moisture-starved. It's non-comedogenic too, so a win for all skin types.В

Elizabeth Arden Retinol Ceramide Night Capsules $150Shop

Ceramide is a hero ingredient when it comes to healthy skin functioning and a strong barrier, so it's pretty damn exciting that the folks at Elizabeth Arden have encapsulated it with my other skin favourite, retinol. Think smoother texture, diminished wrinkles, calmer skin, and an all-round more radiant complexion. What's also great about the capsules is that they are single use, so ingredients stay pure and powerful.В

Dior Rouge Dior Ultra Rouge Lipstick $53Shop

I am very much into the "slightly-smudged-French-girl-lipstick" trend, thus, I am here for this new Dior offering. Bright, punchy, but still sheer and cool, it's my go-to lippie for the warm days ahead. I like the shade "Ultra Fire". It's a warm, summery red that looks epic against a tan and smudged gold shadow.В

Jurlique Herbal Recovery Signature Moisturising Lotion $89Shop

Aussie brand Jurlique continues to impress me with its ever-expanding range of luxurious but extremely user-friendly skincare. This lightweight lotion contains yarrow flower and viola extract grown on the brand's South Australian farm to plump and hydrate.В

Mecca Max Liquid Light $25Shop

I don't care what the trend report says, I will never be done with glossy, illuminated skin. This liquid highlighter is friendly on the wallet, and gives me a Georgia Fowler-level glow when I mix it with my CC Cream. Also, it's great in moisturiser on bare skin.В

Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair Eye Supercharged Complex $105Shop

The truth is, I've never really been one to obsess over eye creams because I've never found one that works. All that has now changed! This new cult pick from Estee Lauder is actually so, so great. It's a light, gel-like texture, (so no milia under my eyes), and visibly hydrates, brightens, and reduces puffiness of a morning-especially when I use it with my jade roller. Thanks to high levels of hyaluronic acid, it also means my concealer has stopped creasing. It's definitely going to be a mainstay in my routine this season.В

Kopari Coconut Melt $30Shop

Controversial opinion: I have never been a coconut oil fan. I think it's a shocking makeup remover, and useless as a hair mask. I never bothered with it as a body moisturiser, until Kopari launched in Sephora. The cult-US brand's signature product smells like summer, hydrates limbs beautifully, and leaves a sheen that's never slimy. Also, RHW is a fan, so you know I'm here for it.В

Marc Jacobs O!mega Shadow Gel Powder Eyeshadow $42Shop

One of my summer makeup goals is to wear more colour (lilac, peach, and pink being my favourites), so I've been dabbling in eyeshadow quite a bit. This formula doesn't budge, so it's perfect for boozy summer afternoons. And you can apply it with your finger-it's fool-proof.В

Neutrogena Hydroboost Water Gel Sunscreen $15Shop

One of the most common questions I am asked as a beauty journalist is about sunscreen, and does the perfect formulation actually exist? It does, and it will cost you a mere $15 at Coles. Packed with hyaluronic acid, and boasting an SPF of 50, this new launch from Neutrogena is hydrating, non-greasy, and doesn't take hours to absorb. If you only buy one product this summer, I would highly recommend you make it this.В

Rodin Mermaid Luxury Illuminating Liquid $73Shop

If the packaging doesn't reel you in, the glowy finish will (hook, line, and sinker). Unnecessary? Maybe, yes. But a thrill to use? Absolutely.В

Too Faced Peach My Cheeks Melting Powder Blush $44Shop

I am obsessed with all blush, but especially this one. It smells like candy, and gives a hazy, sun burnt kind of finish that is dominating my IG saved folder. Typically with a cream, I would use my fingers, but I'm finding this works well using a fluffy brush. It works on eyelids and lips too. I would actually go on a beach vacation and pack nothing but this (and eyebrow pencil). That's how great it is.В

Mecca Max Beauty Queen Eyeshadow Palette $38Shop

This palette is everything. It's got mint greens, pastel pinks, lavenders and peaches that are basically begging to be worn this summer. It's a steal at $38, too.В

Dermalogica Rapid Reveal Peel $128Shop

As someone who has suffered from impaired barrier function, I often recoil when someone uses the word "peel", but this new at-home kit from Dermalogica is not scary (I promise). A blend of AHA's, lactic acid, and plant enzymes, it's an easy and cost-effective way to give skin a big clean over the summer period.В

St Tropez Self Tan Bronzing Water Mousse Purity $50Shop

Over the course of my life, I have seldom used fake tan because I find it too messy and laborious (also, I have white bedding). That's not to say I don't enjoy the benefits of a great bronze glow though, so you can see my dilemma here. It's like the good people at St Tropez climbed inside my head and heard my thoughts, because just a few weeks ago they launched this clear tanning foam. I was skeptical (no colour to guide my application?), but my goodness, it works! All of the bronzy goodness, none of the stained bedding! Win.В

UMA Pure Calm Wellness Oil $65Shop

I am a sucker for essential oils, and Uma is such a special brand. This calming blend contains Roman chamomile, lavender and vetiver, and is absolute bliss at the end of a long day. I rub a little between my toes and wrists before bed, or behind my ears before a yoga class.В

Avene Cleanance Tinted Expert $20Shop

If summer gives you oily, congested skin, this product has got you covered. It's a light emulsion designed to mattify, soothe, and reduce acne lesions.В The tint is invisible, and it is the extra step you need for summer to keep pimples and greasiness subdued. Use it under your moisturiser, and in conjunction with any other spot treatment you might be hooked on.В

Manicare Sonic Mini Facial Cleanser $50Shop

Aperol, sunscreen and salt water can all have a harsh effect on our skin. If you feel like you want a deep clean without forking out for a treatment or pricey cleansing brush, this Manicare brush is for you.В It's water-proof, rechargeable, and uses sonic vibrations to deep clean the skin. Use it every morning with your favourite cleanser.В

Chanel Le Volume Revolution Mascara $56Shop

When it comes to mascara, I like 'em long, clean, and defined. This formula is light (not crunchy), coats every lash, isn't goopy or thick, and gives just enough drama for compliments.В

David Mallet Fresh Eau de Concombre $62Shop

Would it even be an Australian summer if I didn't spend every weekend at the beach swimming and misting my face? No, it would not! And new season = new mist. But this summer, I'm taking things up a notch with a mist for both my face, and my hair! Innovation FTW, right? This smells like a cucumber and rockmelon cocktail, and is packed with hyaluronic acid for plump, juicy skin. The mist is super fine too, so you won't need to dry your face afterwards.В
